I opened my exhibition 'Disclosures' a few days ago in florence, it was a beautiful evening, and a line of vintage cars sat outside. The work looks stunning on the walls of The Golden View, overlooking the Ponte Vecchio and Vasari's Corridor.
It was a wonderful evening and we are very proud of it all. We are open for private viewings so invite you to join us if you are passing through Florence.
The story of these pieces is around the topic of travel and what it means to be a traveller, rather than a tourist. I had the privilege of photographing these wonderful monuments during the second lockdown in Florence and the message was clear, that without the tourists crowding at the feet of these giant pieces of art, the pieces spoke for themselves and seemed to come to life again and this was the beginning of my journey in Tuscany discovering the artworks and the life of the art.
Included in the exhibition is a selectiton from my Grand Tour project, in which I exhibit 3 pieces depicting a Tuscan villa which was on the route of the Grand Tour of Italy and once hosted artists and playwrights, nobelmen and popes. Approaching the topic of travel from another perpsective, a different vision of it, the luxury, the invitation to stay.
I am proud of this work and the collaboration between it and the spaces of The Golden View, a place where art and culture meet from the tables to the wine to the walls.
