OUR PROJECTS

The work we do with the foundation is project based, we start with an idea or an inspiration and build a project around this to develop and bring something forward, a tangible idea to share, through photography, words and sometimes film.

[PROJECT: from Latin projectum ‘something prominent’, neuter past participle of proicere ‘throw forth’, from pro- ‘forth’ + jacere ‘to throw’. Early senses of the verb were ‘plan’ and ‘cause to move forward’.]

As we take inspiration from this etymology, we can say that we are gathering something to offer for the future, for the stories that may be told to better understand the past and grounding for the future.

One of our current projects is works based on the original Grand Tour of Italy, within these studies we aim to bring awareness to how travel was conducted and lived during the years and what that meant to the experience. Through our partners and our estates, offering hospitality through culture and art, we offer an awareness by which we may say that a protection of the culture can occur and be shown, this way preserving something for the future. Our aim - to educate and inform the tourists of the 21st century so they may become travellers again. Preserving original tastes and cultural voices, within our communities of the land and wine clubs, hospitality and dining spaces, we offer the chance to experience and preserve those original tastes, through the senses and through the emotions.

THE GRAND TOUR PROJECT

As we take the journey through Tuscany on the old route of the 18th century Grand Tour we are discovering the old manners, traditions and the way in which travel was conducted and lived then. Through our diary of travels and documents, we aim through our curiosity to discover the path and secrets of the travellers during that era, when travel was considered the 'last piece of a gentleman's education', asking the question - What can we learn from the travellers of the past and how may this inform and educate  the 21st century tourist. The hope - that we may find our way back to becoming again travellers of the land and discoverers of culture.

VENICE IS A SOUND

Venice is a sound is an analogue journey through one of the most photographed cities of the world, stepping into the moment through the celluloid process - where it is lived and preserved.  The world we live in now may be different in many ways, as technology moves forwards, but the essence of it remains intact.  The purity of the streets of Venice exists in much the same way as it did centuries ago and in this way Venice is unique and in fact very much an analogue experience. Capturing these streets on film is a natural thing to do, the city happily gives its layers to the photographer, if we approach it from where it is. The visual representation of this project can be the canvas that we may hear from.

STORIES OF ISOLATION

#Stories_of_Isolation is a project born in response to the global pandemic, which we began on the 21st March 2020.

Our aim is to tell the global story and in order to do this we connected with photographers and photojournalists all over the world to piece together our stories and build a global picture.

Every day we select the most interesting photographs from around the world to share with you. The project can be viewed and followed on Instagram @stories_of_isolation.

In 2025 we plan to produce a book based on this work called, 'Our Story'.

Every day we continue to bring you featured daily stories and posts telling the global story of how the world changed.

This is a  global story. Our Story.
